Christmas Tree exhibition at York Minster December 21

We were invited to take part in a new exhibition at York Minster which we were very excited about. Schools, businesses and other community groups were invited to  decorate a Christmas tree inside the grounds of York Minster, these are then being exhibited over the Christmas period for anyone to go and see. Our children have been busy making decorations and a small group of children/staff went to the Minster to decorate our tree. We have chosen a theme of stars made and decorated in our school colours of maroon and gold and will reflect our ‘let your light shine’ message from our school vision and values. The children all enjoyed making their stars, with each year group choosing a different design from dough stars to cardboard stars in KS1, weaving wool and sewing felt stars in KS2. We attended an opening ceremony and look forward to seeing how we do in the competition. There were 40 trees altogether with some excellent designs.

Mrs Sykes-Cook and Mrs Leaning took three Year 5/6 representatives from our school Worship Squad to York Minster to decorate a Christmas tree as part of the York Minster Christmas Tree Festival. Each year group designed a different tree decoration, around the theme of a candle, demonstrating our ‘shine’ motto and every child in school made their own decoration all of which are now on the tree inside the Minster
